RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibility is core to our culture. It defines how we work, how we behave and how we interact with our customers, our partners and our communities.
We appreciate the risks involved in our sector and take our responsibilities extremely seriously. We understand that our reputation depends on our honouring our commitments, doing what is right for the long-term and always treating others with respect. Our long-term outlook enables us to invest in relationships and defines how we manage our physical assets. We seek to conduct our business in line with the ten principles of the UN Global Compact and to work with partners who share our commitment to high international standards of operation, wherever they are based, and to act with consideration to local stakeholders. |
OPERATIONS
We appreciate the risks involved in the energy and commodities sector and take our responsibility towards health, safety and the environment serious.
We are aware that our actions could impact a broader stakeholder group, including the communities in which we operate and we seek to mitigate impact and risks where possible. In all our operations we seek to work with partners who share our commitment to high international standards of operation. All asset based companies related to Oberon have high international HSE standards and procedures and policies in place, and comply with relevant legislation. |
ENVIRONMENT & REHABILITATION
We aim to manage land responsibly throughout the lifecycle of our assets – in order to reduce impacts on habitats and communities.
We recognise that our activities can affect the regions in which we operate. By rehabilitating land, managing its biodiversity and considering the needs of local people, we can reduce the level of these impacts. Our mining assets are required to have a closure plan to support a responsible exit, and undertake progressive rehabilitation where possible. Previous rehabilitation projects have worked to develop natural landforms, plant vegetation, and encourage the return of local fauna. |
SAFETY & SAFE WORK
Management of safety risks is at the heart of our approach. To manage, mitigate and eliminate safety risks, we have a framework that is comprehensive and robust.
We expect every individual – employee or contractor – to take responsibility for their own safety, and for that of their colleagues. We encourage our people to share their workplace safety knowledge when they are at home and in their communities. Throughout we aim to bring about long-term sustainable change, to eliminate fatalities and serious injuries. |
